February 24th celebrates- the bartender, one of the world’s oldest professions- and the creative genius and talents of bartenders across the world. The celebration is a perfect opportunity for bartenders to showcase their skills and hence a cocktail competition was organized at KSE for aspiring bartenders to explore their talents. Students from the culinary batch also participated to learn and experience something new.

The competition was organized at two levels; students who qualified in the preliminary round were to present their cocktails on 21st February for the final round. For the finale, Mr. Debayan Dutta was invited as the chief guest cum judge of the competition. Mr. Dutta is the Senior Manager- Sales & Business operation at Irish House Kolkata. He possesses 14 years of experience working at and managing various bars and it was a great opportunity for our students to present their cocktails before him. Our students experimented with alcohol, fruits, syrups and more and tried their best to create innovative cocktails. Rabi Das, a senior student pursuing Hotel Management and Tourism course bagged the winning position with his flaming cocktail integrating Kahlua, vodka, fresh cream and cotton candy.
